We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for Superintendent Yandi Rail Operations
 

Reporting to the Manager Rail Operations, the Superintendent Yandi Rail Operations is responsible for supporting a team that manage the central operation of our rail network. This role will see you provide leadership and functional expertise in a broad range of areas and build a cohesive group through deep, foundational team development.


The role will be based at Yandi on a FIFO 5/2 4/3 roster offering flexible work arrangements.

 

About the Role


Your responsibilities will include:
 

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct, and relevant statutory obligations.
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
  • Supporting the health, wellbeing, and sustainable development of team members.
  • Set an example of step-up behaviour, by developing staff, managing risk, problem solving and achieving results.
  • Auditing and coaching the execution team across Field Leadership, Hazard Reporting, Improvement Pipeline, Risk Management. 
  • Train and mentor teams in Operating System Principles and Practices, identify and implement high-impact improvement opportunities.
  • Support and mitigate asset risk to consistently meet operational goals.
  • Drive an inclusive and diverse culture.
  • Foster collaboration across teams and departments to achieve shared objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with Train control to drive the best outcomes for operating the supply chain.
  • Analyse performance metrics and benchmark performance in collaboration with supply chain planning to.
  • Support the development of operating standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Builds cross-functional integration through collaboration with other Superintendents.
  • Driving of a continuous improvement and proactive culture within the team and continually identifying projects and implementing.
  • Monitor and control costs associated with Capital and Operating Budgets and report major expenditure and budget variations.
About You


As the successful applicant you will possesses the following:
 

Skills and Experience:
 

  • Possession of a current unrestricted Australian driver’s license.
  • Leadership experience supporting and developing teams.
  • Strong safety skills and history of field leadership participation
  • Be driven to create a respectful, inclusive, and diverse work environment.
  • Proven ability as a leader with a passion for developing, motivating, and mentoring team members. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to lead through influence.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in complex delivery environments.
  • Ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple deliverables across stakeholders in response to operational needs.
  • Process-driven approach to work.
  • Experience with the BHP Operating System (desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Exceptional risk management skills
  • High level of discretion and complete respect for confidentiality.
  • Previous experience or background within Rail is desirable.


To be successful in this role you will be an effective and collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, allowing you to influence while also enabling you to build relationships across departments.
