About the Role

 

The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore. Embracing inclusion and diversity to create a vibrant culture that represents the communities in which we live, South Flank is focused on high performance, flexible work arrangements, strong Indigenous participation and gender balance.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, dynamic leader to be part of something big - to work in an innovative team, with evolving technology, and playing a pivotal role in creating in our mine. As the Drill & Blast Supervisor, you will be leading a team of drill & blast personnel as well as plan the forthcoming drill & blast activities. This position plays a pivotal key role in ensuring South Flanks’ daily and weekly production targets are met and the statutory and company audit schedules are maintained. This role will also have a heavy emphasis on ensuring all working standards are compliant and take a proactive stance on continuous improvement initiatives.

 

You will also be required to lead a team of Drill & Blast personal while effectively run prestart meetings, allocate daily tasks, work closely with various stakeholders in the business, demonstrate a safety orientation mindset, and assist in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute to current and potential value to the business.

About You

 

The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead positive change and support continued development. As a leader you will have an absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards, mine working procedures and ensure a safe and environmentally healthy workplace. This includes leading and coaching operators in best operating practice, ensuring safety and working standards are maintained to such an extent that work may be stopped if standards are not met.

 

As the Supervisor, you will have a proven track record in leading a Drilling & Blast team on a large-scale open cut mining operation. By utilising your excellent relationship building and influencing skills alongside your strong technical expertise across blasting and drilling activities, you will be able to coach and mentor your team to support a strong safety culture whilst achieving high performance. Your scheduling capabilities, knowledge of the Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations in conjunction with your impressive safety record will enable you to success in this job. For this particular role, it is essential to hold a valid Dangerous Goods Security Card. A WA Shot Firer's license is highly recommended, as is previous experience with electronic detonation systems. A Minimum of C class driver’s licence is required.
