In this role you will:

  • First and foremost, focus on creating a culture of care and be a visible safety leader through engaging, developing and coaching the Mine Services teams;
  • As a supervisor, you will have strong leadership skills and have the ability to positively influence our safety culture.  Your ability to lead by example, be proactive and prioritise Field Leadership activities will be critical to your success.
  • Managing the day-to-day control and supervision of the mine in accordance with Mine Safety and Inspection requirements
  • Lead by example and oversee the day-to-day operations of the production team.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations.
  • By routine, personal inspection and daily interactions, monitor performance of equipment and compliance with operating procedures.
  • Maximise compliance with the operational plan by ensuring that all activities under the supervisor’s control are carried out in accordance with the operation plan and work instructions.
  • Manage workloads and allocate duties across the production team to deliver the plan and ensure all development targets are achieved.

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:  
 

  • Confident communicator who can effectively engage and drive performance with our team.
  • Experience leading, coaching and mentoring employees with diverse skills and capabilities.
  • Experience in large scale open pit Iron Ore mining operations, plus an appreciation of the role of auxiliary equipment and haul road conditioning and design.
  • Understanding of the Mines Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations.
  • Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’.
  • Being familiar with both Human Resource and Performance Management Processes.
  • An appreciation for Operating Systems and committed to continuous improvement initiatives, A high level understanding of incident and event investigation procedures.
  • Confident in meeting daily routines and delivering results around your key performance indicators.
  • Proven experience in delivering quality risk assessments, plus work area set up to maintain a controlled and safe working environment for your team.
  • Familiar with Process confirmation activities and workplace inspections and audits to align with site standards; and
  • Appreciation for managing a fleet of graders, dozers, loaders, excavators involved in pattern preparation, road maintenance, land clearing, mine closure activities and project works.
