About Mt Arthur Coal
Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role
As a Production Supervisor at Mt Arthur Coal, you will be responsible for leading multi-skilled production operators, executing the mine plan whilst achieving safe and optimal outcomes. You will be actively involved in field leadership activities and engaging your team to reach their full potential.
These opportunities are well suited to someone who has people leadership capability and is looking to be part of a team which is shaping processes and contributing to meeting and exceeding targets, within a changing and diverse workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute production activities to plan through the management of people and equipment;
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of multi skilled operators to deliver the plan and build a high-performance team, you will be in the field a minimum 75% of your time;
- Identify improvement opportunities and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure efficiency and production is maximized.
About You
We have multiple Production Supervisor roles available for varying levels of experience. We would be interested in receiving applications from the following:
- Current NSW Open Cut Examiner Practicing Certificate holders;
- Experienced Mining Supervisors (not ticketed);
- Strong people leaders with some exposure to the mining industry.
Your strong desire to work with your team to ensure they are safely delivering their best will see you well placed for success. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must allowing you to build relationships across the team. You will also ideally:
- Have demonstrated experience managing multiple conflicting priorities and strong decision-making skills to achieve the best outcome for teams and production in the short and long term;
- Be skilled in collaborative relationship-building and negotiation, in order to engage others and work on accountability;
- Possess sound computer literacy and the ability to interpret shift metrics to drive optimal production behaviours;
- Be committed to supporting and growing a culture of diversity within the team;
- Have the ability to inspire and develop operators including those new to industry, and communicate, engage and build trust with your team to deliver on your team’s commitments.
