We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual, reporting to the Superintendent Rail Control, you will lead and support a high performing team and collaborate closely with many internal stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient running of trains and execution of track maintenance and Safeworking across the BHP rail network. You will also play an integral part of working together to safely execute the delivery of daily supply chain targets.

About the Role

 

Based within our IOPS Rail Control team in Perth, duties will include but not limited to :-

 

  • Lead and develop a team of Rail Controllers and manage all elements influencing their overall performance
  • Ensure performance of the Rail Control team is in accordance with Rail Safety National Law, Railroad Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct and Safe Work Practices
  • Allocate resources to effectively manage the Rail Control operating boards
  • Ensure compliance to safe operating practices aligned to Rail Safety National Law and our Rail Rule Book
  • Support the delivery of the business plan through:
    • An overriding commitment to our values – Do What’s Right | Seek Better Ways | Make a Difference
    • Manage team performance and continue to drive a positive improvement culture with a focus on safety, empowerment and efficiency and utilisation of BOS practices
    • Communicate a clear and exciting vision for the future of Rail Control including the context of change to build understanding and commitment
    • Develop and maintain the team’s technical capabilities and knowledge within the team

About You

 

The successful candidate will exhibit the following attributes :-

 

  • An experienced and supportive people leader who leverages these qualities to enable EPIC “Empowered Performance and Improved Connections”
  • Experience in coaching and developing teams to achieve results safely through positive engagement and continuous improvement
  • Good communication, interpersonal and people management skills, ensuring that team members feel respected and engaged, and foster a culture of care where the team feel empower to speak up
  • Ability to lead and manage change and enjoy identifying opportunities for improvement and proactively solving them
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to lead performance and the right influence outcomes
  • Exercise sound judgement with good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experienced within Integrated Remote Operations, Rail Operations, Rail Network Maintenance, or Logistics and Supply Chain Management experience will be viewed favourably

 

Lifestyle Roster

 

This position will work on our Lifestyle Roster, working a pattern of days and nights, with a block of days off at the end of each swing.

 

Employees on this roster enjoy two full weekends off out of four and will align to the following shift rotation: 2D2N5X, 2D3N4X, 3D2N5X.

 

You will benefit from additional shift allowances, as part of your remuneration package, and as an added benefit, those on a Lifestyle Roster will also enjoy an additional week of annual leave per year.
