About the Role
As the Supervisor of Training you will lead a team focused on the training and assessment of routine maintenance, repairs and activities across Rollingstock Maintenance and Rail Network Maintenance. You will lead others to ensure safety, productivity and engagement. In addition to supporting a team of trainers you will be responsible managing the training needs for departments within Rail Network Maintenance and Rollingstock Maintenance. You will need to ensure strategic planning and priority management. This role will be expected to operate autonomously taking strategic direction from the Superintendent
Responsibilities include:
- Drives business improvement through the measurement of BHP's performance
- Supervises maintenance training activities across both Rail Network Maintenance and Rollingstock Maintenance to enable the delivery of continuous safe operations.
- Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Designs and delivers training plans, trains and assesses operators and improves training programs to maintain safety, compliance and performance during rollingstock maintenance and rail network maintenance
- Supports the management of vendor relationships, adherence to contract requirements and performance to maximise operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP's exposure to risk.
- Translates corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing and analysing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy.
- Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence based decision making.
- Implements governance/assurance practices and Management of Change procedures to control value outcomes across BHP.
- Manages the capacities and skills of direct reports to ensure customer needs are addressed.
- Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.
- Maintains competency in respective area of expertise to incorporate relevant updates into training materials to ensure currency and relevance.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to identify areas of improvement and proactively implements enhancements to optimise training outcomes
About You
You will have the following skills and experience:
- Experience working within a similar role
- Practical experience working in the rail maintenance environment.
- Working knowledge of the risk management and management of change framework and supporting processes
- Understanding of Rail National Safety Law and can apply key compliance measures to training activities.
- Practical Experience in development of training needs analysis and execution of training plans.
- Understanding of Rail Safety National Law and/or Safeworking rules and can apply key compliance measures to training activities.
- Experience in the design and development of both AQF accredited and non-accredited adult learning materials Understanding of competency based training and adult learning theories.
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment
