About the Role

 

The Team Lead – Procurement Contracts is responsible for leading a team of 10–15 contract analysts/specialists supporting end-to-end contract lifecycle management. This role ensures compliance, commercial value delivery, risk mitigation, and operational excellence while driving team performance and stakeholder satisfaction.

Responsibilities

 

  • Plays a key role in executing activities within BHP’s Global Contract Management System (GCMS), enabling end-to-end commercial support for regional Commercial teams delivering capital and operational projects.
  • Ensures full compliance with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, ORs, GLDs, FLRs, BLDs (including the Minerals Australia Projects Internal Standard), and demonstrates an overriding commitment to HSEC.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders while upholding Charter values.
  • Performs GCMS, 1SAP, and Procon support activities with accountability for outcomes across Commercial processes.
  • Manages day-to-day work allocation for a team of Analysts and Specialists providing commercial support to regional teams.
  • Coaches and develops the team to deliver planned business outcomes, key value drivers, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintains relationships with regional managers and functional counterparts to align business plans, manage work pipelines, and escalate and resolve issues promptly.
  • Identifies and drives opportunities for process improvement, automation, standardization, and simplification across people, processes, and tools.
  • Manages contract execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance while minimizing risk.
  • Delivers end to end commercial outcomes that support stakeholder objectives related to schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Gains alignment and negotiates outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial results.
  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, applies BHP’s risk management framework, and promotes a risk aware culture.
  • Mitigates people, environmental, and community risks across the value chain in alignment with sustainability and public policy.

 

About You

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Law, or related field
  • Leadership experience managing diverse groups of people.
  • ERP/Legacy/Procurement systems knowledge (SAP, Ariba, Procon, GCMS)
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills, knowledge of commercial and legal contract terms.
  • Experience in global/shared services environment, exposure to mining, infrastructure, or large-scale project contracts is a plus.
