About the Role
The Voyage Operations team manages approximately 1600 shipments per annum across Time Charter, Spot, COA, CVC and Freight as a Service deals.
The Team Lead Voyage Operations is responsible in overseeing the day to day operational management of the outbound dry bulk and wet commodities (Iron Ore, Coal, Copper, and LNG/LPG) This includes overseeing the bespoke management of our growing inbound asset break bulk project shipments.
This role requires a high level of both operational, technical shipping, commercial acumen and stakeholder management.
- Completes and leads voyage management activities in alignment with KPIs and processes
- Good understanding of following Maritime processes:
- Voyage Economics for time charters, voyage charters.
- Freight systems, reporting and SAP o Analytics, extracting voyage reports from systems and performance of sub-teams
- Lay time calculation, bulk and oil and gas trade and export Documentation
- LOI, B/L and understanding of trade finance flows and requirements
- Financial reconciliation of voyages o Time charter & bunkering management
- Differentials Calculations o Manage the month end process and get sign off from relevant management representative
- Dispute resolution management, tracking and escalation
- Coaching, mentoring, leading and developing the team. Support the decision making process of talent management, hiring, performance and disciplinary actions
- Applies an understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain to enhance efficiency, drive optimisation, and maximise value
- Support’s the chartering team's delivery of optimised voyage economics through a deep understanding of the charterparty terms and conditions including the execution and finalisation of freight
- Applies an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance
- Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Proven experience in motivating, leading and empowering teams. Is able to effectively communicate and influence at all levels
- Identifies, implements and evaluates the success of continuous improvement activities/initiatives to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of BHP systems and processes
- Gains support for and negotiates outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals
About You
-
8+ years’ experience in container operations execution and managing end to end logistics operations, with team management experience

Bachelor degree in supply chain, shipping and or commodity trading or maritime economics

Experience working with a shipping liner managing a global client account

Experience in simple automation (eg MS Flow) that will deliver improvement/ operational efficiency

Experienced with Transport Management Systems, and or SAP.
