About the Role

The role of Mechanical Technician is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of all plant and equipment onsite at Mt Keith. This is a permanent position on a 7/7 days only roster with occasional night shift on a 5 week cycle. 

Key responsibilities and experiences are;

  • Inspection, servicing, adjustment, troubleshooting and repair of all plant equipment;
  • Overhaul/assembly of equipment in the workshop environment;
  • Ensuring clear communication to Mechanical Supervisor & Mechanical Team Leader in regards to downtime and trouble areas;
  • Raising work requests, requisitioning of parts using 1SAP system;
  • Following specific maintenance programs and procedures;
  • Overriding commitment to BHP Charter, health, safety, environment and sustainable development;
  • Ensuring that all documentation and data entry is accurately completed;
  • Maintain a high level working knowledge of safety processes.

 

Nickel West Mt Keith is located 460 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in the Northern Goldfields. Nickel West Mt Keith is a surface mining operation with an open pit and concentrator plant. The operation is surrounded by pastoral stations, with the nearest townships being Leinster and Wiluna. There’s plenty to keep you entertained in the Mt Keith Village. Take the heat off the day and head to the pool - or join in a game of footy. BBQ dinners are regularly held and other social activities include movie nights. Employees commute to and from Perth on a fly in / fly out roster or form regional areas on a drive in / drive out roster.

About You

Skills and Requirements include:

  • Mechanical Trade Cert (required);
  • A current WA Drivers Licence (MR desirable)
  • Previous experience in fixed plant maintenance on a mine site;
  • Dogging, rigging, EWP, Forklift (desirable);
  • A good understanding of 1SAP system;
