About the Role

 

This is an ideal opportunity for enthusiastic and proactive and diverse Train Drivers to join our Rail Operations Team. These roles are either 2 week on 2 week off fly-in fly-out from Perth or residential based in Port Hedland or Newman on a 6 on 6 off roster. Flexible work and job share opportunities will also be considered. 

 

As an experienced Yard Driver you will play a key role by:

 

  • Operating locomotives and providing operational support in our Finucane Island and Nelson Point yards 
  • Performing yard and shunting duties in accordance with our train schedules, relevant standards and work instructions

 

As an experienced Mainline Driver you will play a key role by:

 

  • Operating trains on BHP’s mainline rail network safely delivering iron ore to our Finucane Island and Nelson Point port facilities
  • Operating shuttle trains to BHP satellite mines progressing to mainline running

 

About You

 

As the successful candidate, you will live in Western Australia or be willing to relocate to Western Australia. You will possess the following:

 

  • Being a committed team player and working in partnership with our other Rail departments to ensure Rail Operations is safely aligned to our wider business
  • An unrelenting commitment to the BHP Charter Values and code of conduct, our overriding principles on how we treat each other 
  • Alignment with the BHP pledge to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the highest standards of work
  • Experience in the operation of Locomotive hauled trains preferred but not essential 
  • Knowledge of principles and concepts related to train handling 
  • Certificate IV in Train Driving or equivalent is essential 
  • Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster
