As a Ventilation Engineer, your immediate and core focus will be delivering production outcomes with a secondary focus on leading the expansion of the mine by transitioning from a Sub Level Cave to a Block Cave – this will extend the Carrapateena mine life beyond 2039. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a passion for improving mine safety. As Carrapateena enters a new phase of production ramp-up and operational readiness for the block cave, you will support the detailed design and planning of ventilation and mine services systems.
Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)

In The Role You Will:
- Proactively deliver safe and executable ventilation instructions.
- Optimise short-term ventilation planning.
- Conduct vent surveys, air balancing, air vent adjustments, and fan management.
- Perform fault-finding and monitoring activities to maintain system efficiency.
- Ensure proper airflow distribution across operational zones.
- Facilitate on site data collection activities to support long term planning with specific focus on radon data collection and others as required.
- Build and maintain an accurate VentSim model of the mine’s ventilation system.
- Keep stakeholders informed about progress in ventilation system development.
- Identify and manage ventilation-related risks by recommending appropriate control measures.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive value-add projects.
- Complete management of change documentation.
About You:
- A commitment to developing safety leadership.
- Experience in underground mining is essential.
- Extensive underground mining ventilation experience in an operational setting.
- Proficiency in VentSim for ventilation simulations and operational optimisations.
- Expertise in conducting ventilation surveys and meeting industry best practices.
- Strong knowledge of ventilation system maintenance and optimisation.
- Sub-level or block caving experience (highly regarded).
- Deswik.CAD experience (highly regarded).
- Excellent teamwork, communication, problem-solving, analytical skills, and mentoring abilities.
