About The Role

We are pleased to present the vacancy of Trade Assistant, Mobile Fleet Maintenance team - Panel B.  You will play a pivotal role supporting our team of trade professionals, adhering to operating requirements and strive for the safe achievement of individual, team and site objectives, whilst supporting the growth of Copper SA.

You will present naturally with the transferrable skills to perform successfully in this position.

You will be warmly welcomed by your team, your leader and methodically and correctly inducted and trained into your respective teams safely, and we will ensure you establish a true home away from home bond with your commitment to our team and your career with BHP.

 Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 (day/night) roster pattern arrangement, with residential, FIFO (Adelaide) or DIDO (on location options available.

In this role you will:

• Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day.
• Provide trade assistance skills to support planned, unplanned or breakdown maintenance
• Develop close working relationships with Mine personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and rectified immediately
• Provide continual feedback to the Shift Maintenance Supervisors on job progress
• Execute activities according to the weekly work schedule and unscheduled work as required
• Update events and work requests with an accurate scope of work, to support effective planning of work
• Provide input to the Maintenance Analysis & Improvement (A&I) sub-function for engineering modifications needed for plant and equipment
• Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor on improvement opportunities
• Build cross-functional relationships with the range of Operational areas to support maintenance
• Comply with the 1SAP Work Management processes related to work identification, execution and the capturing of related historical transactional data into 1SAP

• Provide input into root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of action items affecting equipment reliability 

About You

• Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
• Previous experience working in a similar Trades Assistant role or another highly transferrable hands-on role within mining
• Riggers, doggers and crane tickets are advantageous
• 1SAP basic user capabilities desired 
• Proven ability to demonstrate appropriate HSEC behaviours
• Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
• Current, valid driver’s licence
