Reporting to the Geotechnical Manager, you will be part of a highly skilled team specializing in geotechnical characterization, open pit and underground mining, and stability analysis. As a technical expert without direct people management responsibilities, you will support assets in geotechnical rock mass characterization, stability assessments, monitoring practices and the transfer of best practices to improve decision quality, strengthen capability and support value creation across the business.

Come and be part of this success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in geotechnical assurance processes and contribute to second line of defence activities.
  • Identify and integrate opportunities for collaboration across teams and functions.
  • Support the development of high-quality geotechnical and structural models that help prevent value erosion and strengthen operational decision-making.

  • Support the management of mine geotechnical risks within the Technical Centre of Excellence under the direction of the Geotechnical Manager.
  • Foster strong internal and external networks of geotechnical professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert technical advice and collaborate closely with geotechnical teams across the asset portfolio.
  • Contribute to the Geotechnical Technology Roadmap through innovation, research and technology initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in geotechnical management practices through benchmarking and knowledge sharing.

  • Degree qualification in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • More than 10 years of experience within the mining industry.
  • Experience using geotechnical software such as Vulcan, Leapfrog and Rocscience applications, with exposure to 3D stability analysis software considered advantageous.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with highly skilled mine planning and technical professionals across functions, geographies and organisational boundaries.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • English and Spanish language skills are considered an advantage.
  • Role based in Santiago, Chile.
