Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Site Support to join our Rail Site Support team.


Reporting to the Manager Site Support, you will be a strategic partner to the Rail Leadership Team. You will be responsible for leading the annual Business Planning activities for site, with a focus on the 12-24 month time horizon. Through this process, you will translate our long-term strategies into operational plans, and you will define the standards by which these plans are monitored, and success is measured.


You are a self-motivated leader and highly adept at deriving insights from a range of different data sources, visualising and communicating these insights to guide leadership decision-making, resource prioritisation, and ultimately deliver high-value projects and/or Programs of Work.


You will have a high level of data accuracy and attention to detail, producing high quality outputs for different levels of BHP’s senior leadership.


To be successful in this role, you must be adaptable; able to quickly pivot plans to accommodate changing business priorities. This role is suited to an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is seeking an influential role within WAIO.

Core Deliverables:

  • BHP CAP cycle outputs (site budget, workforce plan, Integrated Operations Plan inclusive of strategic initiatives)
  • Performance metric tracking
  • Strategic Support for the Operational Lead Team
  • Break-through projects or programs of work for site
  • Senior Leadership level memo’s, business cases and presentations
  • Site Risk Audit Committee facilitation
  • Assist high-impact site visits (Board Members, Investors, Vendors, Government, etc)


Key accountabilities:

  • Makes evidence based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer term business objectives
  • Translates corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing and analysing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy.
  • Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducts presentations and facilitates workshops connecting, influencing and engaging the audience.
  • Identifies, implements and evaluates the success of continuous improvement activities/initiatives to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of BHP systems and processes.
  • Applies and evaluates change management tools, methods, data, purpose, value and strategic direction.
  • Mentor and role model for the Specialist Site Support
  • Positively shape culture in alignment with the BHP Charter Values.


Roster:


Port Hedland residential based Monday-Friday, or Fly in Fly out from Perth to Port Hedland 5:2 4:3 roster.


Skills and Experience

As the successful applicant, you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business/Commerce or Engineering related discipline.  Master’s qualification desirable but not required.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation, communication and influencing skills, and strong stakeholder engagement skills to build interdepartmental collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated capability and applying BHP Operating system to deliver operational performance and improvement productivity initiatives
  • Capability in project scoping, project planning and executing work using a disciplined approach to attain project goals
  • Experience in engaging across all levels of the business, from frontline through to higher level management
