About the Role

 

Reporting to the Manager Olympic Dam (OD) Services, the Superintendent Facilities Management & Maintenance is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of facilities maintenance, cleaning services and housing across Olympic Dam and Roxby Downs.

 

Leading a team of employees and contract partners, you will drive operational excellence through the BHP Operating System (BOS), ensuring services are delivered safely, sustainably and in alignment with customer and business requirements. You will foster a high-performing, inclusive and values-led culture while building strong partnerships across Operations, Projects, Functional Teams and Contract Partners.

 

This role has significant influence across the business and requires a collaborative leader who can align stakeholders, improve performance, strengthen contractor partnerships and deliver outcomes through influence, coaching and continuous improvement.

 

This role can be based in Adelaide with regular travel to site, or residential in Roxby Downs on a 5/2 (Monday to Friday) roster.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Lead with care and be a visible safety leader, actively engaging with frontline teams and contractors to strengthen critical risk management, learning and continuous improvement
  • Role model the BHP Charter Values and create an inclusive, respectful and high-performing culture where people feel empowered to speak up, challenge the status quo and contribute to better outcomes
  • Drive operational excellence through the BHP Operating System (BOS), embedding leader routines, visual management, standard work, performance management and problem-solving disciplines across the portfolio
  • Lead strategic contractor partnerships, ensuring clear accountability for safety, service delivery, productivity, quality, cost and customer outcomes
  • Develop solid and trusted relationships with customers, contract partners and key stakeholders, aligning priorities and delivering results through collaboration and influence
  • Oversee the maintenance, cleaning and housing portfolios to ensure services are safe, reliable, compliant and fit for purpose
  • Identify, coach and develop team capability, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous learning
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience, improve efficiency and unlock value for the business
  • Utilise data, performance systems and operational insights to identify trends, manage risk and drive informed decision-making
  • Provide leadership and governance across contract management activities, ensuring robust assurance processes, risk controls and commercial outcomes are achieved

 

About You

You will bring:

 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within maintenance, facilities management, operations, services or a related field
  • Experience leading and improving contractor performance through strong governance, relationship management and performance assurance frameworks
  • Proven ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement through the application of BOS principles, structured problem-solving and performance management systems
  • Experience managing large and diverse stakeholder groups, with the ability to influence outcomes and build alignment across operational and functional teams
  • Well-developed commercial acumen and experience managing budgets, contracts, risks and business performance
  • A track record of developing high-performing teams through coaching, capability building and effective leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cultural improvement initiatives that strengthen safety, accountability, inclusion and engagement
  • Experience working across multiple disciplines including Safety, Operations, Commercial, Supply, Maintenance and Contract Management
  • Highly developed communication, engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively from frontline teams through to senior leadership
